Green Building Topics
As part of the Better BricksTM training team, and the Putnam Price Group, K energy provides training development and presentations. These topics can be adapted from 1 hour to a half-day workshop with interactive participation.

Integrated Design
This presentation will provide an introduction to the concepts of integrated and sustainable design. Integrated Design forms the base for high performance building design, design team development, and communication. It is the defining process for a new architecture that seeks to design buildings that perform for the occupants.

Climate Responsive Design
Effective response to local climate conditions can result in significant energy savings. This topic will discuss how humans perceive comfort, and how buildings can effectively respond to these perceptions by taking advantage of local climatic conditions with a focus on proven regional energy savings strategies. This session has just been updated and is designed for audience interaction and an Idaho specific climatic focus.

Natural Ventilation
Mild climates in the Northwest present opportunities for effective use of natural ventilation strategies in conjunction with or in lieu of mechanical cooling. This newly updated presentation will discuss building design configurations to maximize natural ventilation effectiveness, and integration with other building systems. The effect of sun, wind, temperature, and building mass is also explored. Performance guidelines and evaluation and modeling tools and strategies are presented.

Building Commissioning
Despite more and more demand for commissioning services, many designers cannot explain the difference between building commissioning and testing and balancing. This basic topic will help architects understand and communicate more effectively with commissioning agents, while implementing design strategies that simplify the commissioning process.

LEED
The LEED program encourages improvements in building energy performance, but many designers focus on costly or obscure responses to LEED energy credits. This topic explains how LEED treats energy performance, and describes a series of appropriate energy savings strategies for your climate that can capture LEED energy and other credits. Energy modeling will also be discussed as a design tool and LEED strategy.
